Applications are invited for a full time 10PA consultant post in the Oral Maxillofacial  Surgery.

This is a new consultant appointment in response to an increasing workload within a busy head and neck unit. The successful applicant would join a team of 4 OMFS consultants and 1 Oral surgeon. The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provides Oral and Maxillofacial services across Norfolk through close links with adjacent trusts Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn and The James Paget hospital on the east coast. The head and neck Catchment area covers a population of 1.4 million people and also includes Ipswich Hospital which has recently merged with Colchester hospital to form the East Suffolk And North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). As a result of this exciting merger with a potential increase in the catchment population there is increased need to support the head and neck MDT  at Ipswich. This new post would be primarily based at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with on call, in patient operating and general clinics being performed there. Peripheral clinics will take place in  Ipswich on a weekly basis. There is full engagement from head and neck consultants in all lead  specialties Oncology(2 consultants),  ENT(2 consultants), OMFS(2 consultants)  and  Plastic surgery(4 consultants).  We are well supported by Radiology, Histopathology, Speech and language therapists, tracheostomy specialist practitioners CNS and nutritionists. The MDT has an effective and collegiate approach to managing the patients.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and Cromer and District Hospital, including more specialist services such as oncology and radiotherapy, neonatology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, paediatric medicine and surgery.

Our staff of over 7,000 treat more than one million patients; people from Norfolk, neighbouring counties and further afield. Our patients are referred to us by around 100 local GP practices but also from other acute hospitals and primary care trusts around the country.

As a university teaching hospital we have developed our research and development strategy in partnership with the University of East Anglia.

We also work closely with our partners on the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy to take forward our ambitious targets for research and development.
