Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow in Cardiology to join an innovative team dedicated to cardiovascular research

Post commences August 2019 for a period of 12 months

The Cardiology Directorate of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), in conjunction with Norwich Medical School University of East Anglia (UEA), is seeking to appoint a Cardiovascular Research Fellow to undertake a clinical research project in plaque erosion. This will build on a successful pilot study which has been presented at international meetings and published.  The department has a national and international reputation for an innovative approach to PCI procedures.  NNUH and UEA work together to achieve research excellence in cardiovascular disease.

The Cardiology department at NNUH has 16 Consultant staff and a busy programme in acute coronary syndromes, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, pacing and imaging. This is a one year fixed term post initially, but further funds are available to support appropriate candidates for a longer period in research leading to a higher degree (PhD or MD).  The post will provide excellent training in a wide range of clinical research, basic science and statistics.

There will also be the possibility to continue with clinical training including on call activity. Primary supervision will be by Dr Alisdair Ryding and Prof Marcus Flather. The post is available to medical trainees with an enthusiasm for academic cardiology.

Pay scale will be up to £40,000 per annum depending on skill and experience.

Closing date: 5th May 2019
