Applications are invited for a locum consultant post in this specialty for 6 months. This is a full time 10 PA locum post and you will join a team of 9 Consultant colleagues and a full MDT in this University Teaching Hospital

The Directorate is keen to attract a locum Consultant   to meet   the immediate pressures we face. We operate a model where one Consultant covers all our inpatients at any one time,  largely based on a single ward, and is fully supported by a full inpatient specialist nurse diabetes team, junior doctors and experienced SpRs and full staff complements. This post is designed to support inpatient care, but also to allow the existing Consultants to meet acute short term waiting list and other pressures. The post holder will expected to be strong in GIM or OPM care, and Diabetes and Endocrinology experience would be valuable but not essential   One very attractive element of this post, is that there is no planned weekend work and the post holder would be expected to be in this Trust between 0800 to 17 00 Monday to Thursday and 0800 – 1200 Friday and on call from home (Category A) on only one night per week . (Monday or Tuesday) to a total of 10 PAs. We will support professional development and specialty training and mentorship for this post

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and Cromer and District Hospital, including more specialist services such as oncology and radiotherapy, neonatology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, paediatric medicine and surgery.

Our staff of over 7,000 treat more than one million patients; people from Norfolk, neighbouring counties and further afield. Our patients are referred to us by around 100 local GP practices but also from other acute hospitals and primary care trusts around the country.

As a university teaching hospital we have developed our research and development strategy in partnership with the University of East Anglia. We also work closely with our partners on the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy to take forward our ambitious targets for research and development.
