The role is an exciting opportunity to provide reception services to the Emergency Department, which is a high volume area, where you will meet both emergency patients and their visitors who are attending the department.

We are offering part time posts, to be discussed at interview, working as a receptionist within the Emergency Department, UCC, Minors, OPED, CHED and to include cover at Cromer.

The reception is covered 24 hours, 7 days a week with a variety of shifts : 06:00-14:00, 08:00-16:00, 11:30-19:30, 14:00-22:00, 16:00-00:00, 17:00-01:00, 22:00-06:00 each being 8 hours long. 

  • There is no set rotation within the rota; all staff are expected to work a variety of shifts.
  • The shifts will include out-of-hours, weekends, night shifts and Bank holidays.
  • Candidate will be expected to work a minimum of 2 overnight shifts per 6 week rota period.
  • Candidate will be the sole receptionist at times.

As post holder, you will provide an efficient, caring and quality reception and clerical service within the Emergency Department covering a 24 hours service. 

  • Excellent communication/customer care skills in your capacity as a front line member of staff.
  • Previous reception experience desirable – NHS based preferable.
  • Keyboard skills essential, PAS training desirable.
  • Team player essential, but also the ability to work on own initiative in a continually changing environment.
  • Diplomacy, confidence and most definitely a sense of humour.

If you are flexible and have a methodical approach, with attention to detail, IT and Customer Care skills, love to be kept busy this is a position for you. You will be expected to keep IT and other systems up to date with patient tracking, meet and greet, answering telephone and redirecting calls as appropriate, filing of case notes etc with the main focus on Patient Care.  

The reception team works on a rota basis covering 7.5 hours per shift over a 24 hour period seven days a week. Rota’s are produced 6 weeks in advance through our Health Care Roster.
