At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) it is our privilege to provide healthcare to over one million people across Norfolk and surrounding areas. Our vision is to ‘provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most’, and if this inspires you and you share our values, we really want you to join our team.

We are keen and very excited to recruit new ED Consultants to work within our Emergency Department. These posts are 10 PA posts which include working in ED and discrete leadership roles providing diversity and interests across the department. This is to enable our Consultants to develop a strong interesting career and achieve a good work-life balance. The rota currently includes a 1 in 15 weeknight on call and a 1 in 8 weekend commitment, although we aim to reduce this with the new appointees.

This new role is a joint role with East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) with committed time spent with EAAA in active flying sessions and governance, learning and training. We are in the early stages of creating a Faculty with EAAA and this a step towards this. We would encourage the appointee(s) to help us to design and drive this important and exciting collaboration. We are working towards becoming a Major Trauma Centre in the coming years and joint posts with EAAA will be essential in this development. We currently are a Major Trauma Unit for Norfolk and Waveney and we are committed to improving on the service we can deliver to our population.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is one of the 10 biggest trusts in the UK and is sited within a vibrant and cosmopolitan University City. We are a modern, bright and airy campus style hospital which links directly to the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the world leading John Innes research park. Set within the beautiful county of Norfolk where house prices are still affordable. We have been voted the best city to live and work in by both the Sunday Times and the Guardian. Where else could you be in the centre of London or walking on some of the best unspoilt beaches in Europe within less than 2 hours?

There are plans to further develop and expand our teaching focused department in the next two years. Joining us at this stage will allow you to be involved in the future of the department and to potentially guide this. At present we are training FY, ACCS, GPST and EM HSTs within the department and have very close links with the medical school at the UEA

Our values support our vision and guide the behaviour of everything we do, these are:

Respect: We act with care, compassion and kindness and value others’ diverse needs.

Integrity: We take an honest, open and ethical approach to everything we do.

Dedication: We work as one team and support each other to maintain the highest professional standards.

Excellence: We continuously learn and improve to achieve the best outcomes for our patients and our hospital.
