Job overview

The Emergency Department at NNUH is seeking to recruit highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our team as a Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse. The NNUH hosts the busiest Emergency Department in the East of England seeing over 120,000 patients every year.

This role is key in continuing our #JourneytoOutstanding and ensuring that patients are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for an individual with excellent communication skills who is capable of providing the highest possible standard of patient care.

You’ll work within a varied Multi-disciplinary Team, playing a vital part in ensuring a safe, timely and effective patient experience.

Main duties of the job

You will maintain a high standard of research-based nursing practice delivering patient care under the direction of the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse.

Participate in the teaching programme of the department

Act as leader in the clinical area in the absence of sister/charge nurse, taking charge of the department as required.

Work as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner or be willing to undertake training and  in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing / Midwifery Professional Bodies and Trust Nursing Policies and Guidelines.

You will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service,

You are also  expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with significant post registration experience in ED or Critical Care area
Desirable criteria
  • One of the following: ALS, PALS/APLS, ATLS/ATNC/TNCC
  • ENP or Minor injury/illness course at level 6

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in ED nursing or Critical Care.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of up to date issues in ED and the NHS
  • Understanding of legal and ethical issues in Emergency care

Attitude, aptitude
