The General Theatres department invite you to join their friendly, dynamic, highly skilled and professional team in an ever-developing and innovative environment.

You will have opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in Theatres 5 for general surgery including colorectal and breast surgery, and in Theatre 4 for orthopaedic and plastic surgery. This is an exciting time to join the team as Robotic surgery for colorectal is taking off, full training and support will be given to gain skills and knowledge in this area.

There is a rotation between the main orthopaedic theatres allowing staff to gain and refresh their surgical and anaesthetic experience within the routine environment.

Following a 6 month supernumerary period all new staff will participate in a departmental rotation to gain experience in paediatric, ENT and Maxillofacial, Thoracic, Urology, Gynaecological and Emergency theatres to facilitate working out of hour shifts.

As the post holder you will work as a competent member of the theatre team, supporting the philosophy of multi-skilling and integration of theatre personnel. You will work as an accountable practitioner, taking every opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge and professional competence in all aspects of peri-operative care.

You will also support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

As a band 5 without any theatre experience you will have 6 months supernumerary status whilst learning theatre skills
