Renal Consultant

With a purpose built 36 bed super unit opening in November 2018, expansion to our services at Cromer Hospital and constant innovative advances in how we lead our home based care, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is leading the way with patient led Renal care.  Now is the time to join us as we look to appoint into our newly created Consultant post.

The Nephrology service at NNUH covers a population of just over 850,000. The hub of the service is at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with one satellite unit at Cromer Hospital in North Norfolk, allowing for holiday makers in the summer to continue to receive treatment. We also have very close links with the James Paget Hospital and its satellite dialysis unit in Gorleston.

Our services include

  • Home based, Consultant led dialysis care allowing patients to receive care in their own home . In addition we have facilities for out-patient training and clinics.
  • The acute nephrology service has its own dedicated renal ward. Acute dialysis can be provided 24 hours per day on the ward, and we also deliver non-haematological plasma exchange.
  • We have a Nurse Manager, A pre-dialysis Education Nurse, a Vascular Access Nurse, an Anemia Management Nurse and a Parenteral Iron Therapy Nurse.

Norwich, is home to our beautiful, purpose built, modern hospital which is the 6th largest Acute Trust in the UK. Located on the same site as Norwich Research Park and next to world renowned University of East Anglia (UEA), we are a teaching hospital with a strong focus around career development and lead the way with new and innovate services in many of our departments.

In a recent survey, 97% of friends and family would recommend NNUH to a family member; this is a direct result of out 7,500 strong multi-disciplinary workforce working together in a constant effort to improve patient care.

Why Norwich?

In Norwich a staggering 77% of people say they love their job.   Although less than 2 hours from London and serviced by excellent transport links , Norwich is one of few UK cities that still retain a strong local identity and with that a strong sense of community – people walk down the street and say hello to each other, baristas remember our coffee order, you get to know about interesting local projects.

This strong sense of self along with excellent shopping, eating out, affordable house prices and excellent schooling is why Norwich has been ranked by the Guardian as the best city to work in.
