CONSULTANT POST IN Clinical Oncology

Applications are invited for a new full time consultant post in clinical Oncology specialising in Breast Cancer.

The successful applicant will join a young, dynamic team of 13 consultants managing cancer across Norfolk.  There is a strong site-specific team ethos to working in the department and within each cancer site.  Treatment is according to local protocols developed in conjunction with cancer network tumour groups.  The post holder will specialise in acute oncology and will be expected to cover a minor tumour site – to be determined according to the expertise of the successful candidate.

Radiotherapy is a particular strength with IMRT and IGRT as standard in many tumour sites.  Chemotherapy is provided in purpose built units at Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

Norwich is a great place to live. The city supports a wide variety of cultural activities. The North Norfolk coast is on the doorstep as is the Norfolk Broads National Park. The city also has some excellent schools and a thriving university. The city is only 2 hours from the center of London.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and Cromer and District Hospital, including more specialist services such as oncology and radiotherapy, neonatology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, paediatric medicine and surgery.

Our staff of over 7,000 treat more than one million patients; people from Norfolk, neighbouring counties and further afield. Our patients are referred to us by around 100 local GP practices but also from other acute hospitals and primary care trusts around the country.

As a university teaching hospital we have developed our research and development strategy in partnership with the University of East Anglia.

We also work closely with our partners on the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy to take forward our ambitious targets for research and development.
