At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) it is our privilege to provide healthcare to over one million people across Norfolk and surrounding areas. Our vision is to ‘provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most’, and if this inspires you and you share our values, we really want you to join our team.

We are keen and very excited to recruit new ED Consultants with Special interest in Paediatrics to work within our Children’s Emergency Department. This post is 10 PA post which include working you clinical shifts in our children’s ED as well as on call in our main ED. We are keen to promote leadership roles providing diversity and interests across the department and we encourage you to reflect on how, you would like to work with the ED, cross-specialty roles are welcomed.  This will enable you to develop a strong interesting career and achieve a good work-life balance. The rota currently includes a 1 in 14 weeknight on call and a 1 in 8 weekend commitment, although we aim to reduce this with the new appointees. We have recently purchased a self-rostering platform for our senior medical team.

Our Children’s Emergency Department (CHED) is a thriving, busy department with an enthusiastic team. We already have cross roles with Paediatrics working in collaboration with our Jenny Lind Children’s hospital. We have expanded our ED facilities for children over the past 2 years and will continue to expand and there is support for a single front door within the Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital for Children’s ED. We would be keen that you help to design and drive this expansion. Paediatric Services are increasing across the Trust and we will be working with them to ensure our CHED remains a fantastic place for children’s care, it will remain under the care of our ED.

Our vision, and strategy also includes becoming a Major Trauma Centre within the next 5 years and work is already underway within our department. We plan to extend and redesign our ED to make it an outstanding place for our patients and our staff.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is one of the 10 biggest Trusts in the UK and is sited within a vibrant and cosmopolitan University City. We are a modern, bright and airy campus style hospital which links directly to the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the world leading John Innes research park. Set within the beautiful county of Norfolk where house prices are still affordable. We have been voted the best city to live and work in by both the Sunday Times and the Guardian. Where else could you be in the centre of London or walking on some of the best unspoilt beaches in Europe within less than 2 hours? Come and talk with us and let us see how we can work together to provide excellent patient care in a positive environment with your work-life balance cared for.

There are plans to further develop and expand our teaching focused department in the next two years. Joining us at this stage will allow you to be involved in the future of the department and to potentially guide this. At present we are training FY, ACCS, GPST and EM HSTs within the department and have very close links with the medical school at the UEA

Our values support our vision and guide the behaviour of everything we do, these are:
