The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital is seeking a paediatric consultant with expertise and enthusiasm for acute paediatrics. The post is available from 04/01/2019 and supports exciting developments in acute paediatrics at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Foundation Trust. The post is also a part of the department’s strategy to achieve the RCPCH ‘Facing the Future Standards’ and at the same time enhance the high quality training and support offered to trainees.  This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic department excited about meeting the challenges of delivering high quality care and education in the modern NHS.

The post will focus on delivery of acute paediatric care. Paediatric outpatient activity will include clinics in acute general paediatrics. This post will help provide paediatric support to plan care for patients with complex needs who are being admitted to NNUH including those undergoing elective surgery. The post will not include neonatology.  The successful applicant will join a team of 18 other acute medical consultants, working across both CAU and the inpatient areas to provide an integrated acute paediatric service in this busy teaching hospital.  The post will include a 1:16 contribution to the ‘Consultant of the week’ (CoW) service plus acute paediatric sessions on the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) between 0830 and 2200 hours. There is a maximum commitment to out of hours working of 1:8 week days and 1:8 weekends in total (CAU and CoW sessions combined) and there is no resident on call for either post.
