2 x Locum Consultant Post in Acute Paediatric Medicine

(Locum for 12 months pending substantive post)

The Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital is seeking two locum paediatric consultants with expertise and enthusiasm for acute paediatrics. The posts are available immediately or from 02/09/2019 for an initial period of 12 months. They will support the exciting developments in acute paediatrics at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals Foundation Trust, help achieve the RCPCH ‘Facing the Future Standards’ and at the same time enhance the high quality training and support offered to trainees.  This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic department excited about meeting the challenges of delivering high quality care and education in the modern NHS. At least two acute substantive appointments are anticipated within the next 12 months.

These two posts will focus on delivery of acute paediatric care. Paediatric outpatient activity will include clinics in acute general paediatrics although subspecialty interest clinics may be considered if there the successful applicant has expertise in areas of interest to the department. The post will not include neonatology.  The successful applicant will join a team of 18 other acute medical consultants, working across both CAU and the inpatient areas to provide an integrated acute paediatric service in this busy teaching hospital.  The post will include a 1:16 contribution to the ‘Consultant of the week’ (CoW) service plus acute paediatric sessions on the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) between 0830 and 2200 hours. There is a maximum commitment to out of hours working of 1:8 week days and 1:8 weekends in total (CAU and CoW sessions combined) and there is no resident on call for either post.
