An opportunity has arisen for experienced physiotherapists to join our teams working across a variety of Acute admissions units, Older Peoples Medicine wards and clinics.  The service we provide is currently undergoing exciting transformation and the post holder will have an active role to play in this.  The post will suit individuals who have completed their core rotations (on a Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation programme, or similar) or already have experience at Band 6 and are looking to develop specialist skills within the Older peoples Medicine (OPM) specialty.

As well as being part of cohesive physiotherapy teams you would also be working collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team and, in particular, with our Occupational Therapy colleagues.

The Posts are static within the OPM team but will include rotations between different wards within the specialty and you will be supported by highly specialist senior staff in all areas. You will also have the opportunity to develop both your clinical and leadership skills working with junior staff, physiotherapy support workers and students. Involvement in audit, research and service improvement is encouraged and Continuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in-service training and post graduate library facilities.

As post holder, you duties will include:

- To assess, prioritise and manage own caseload of patients presenting to the specialties included in the rotation, determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner. Patient presentation may be complex/highly complex.

- To train, supervise and monitor other physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistant practitioners, assistants and, with support, to performance manage students

- To provide clinical leadership within the speciality including educational, professional and managerial guidance.

- To have an active role in the planning, development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients within and out-reaching from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

- To deputise for the Physiotherapy Operational Lead/Senior physiotherapy staff as required.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

These are full time posts (37.5 hours per week); however, part time hours will be considered and can be discussed at interview.

Participation in the out-of-hours rotas for emergency on call, weekend and Bank Holiday working is a requirement of the post.

The post holder will be required to participate in the extended day / 7-day rotas, in line with service needs.
