Are you a capable and confident clinical professional who enjoys a challenge and would like to champion and drive forward research?
Clinical research is the cornerstone of first-class care, and, in partnership with the local research networks, the Trust has a research portfolio to be proud of. As an organisation we believe that every patient should be given the opportunity to participate/be involved in clinical research.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is capable of contributing to the development of research across a growing number of portfolio studies. The post holder will work primarily on the gastroenterology research portfolio whilst also supporting colleagues working across the research department.
As post holder you must be a Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register and have a keen interest in Research, have excellent communication skills, an understanding of scientific protocols, the ability to work autonomously and to be able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Opportunities for developing new research/clinical skills are available and actively encouraged. Clinical Research nursing is a developing professional group and the post holder will be able to contribute to the development of future studies.
Working with the other members of the research team, the post holder (who will have some post qualification experience at Band 5) will carry out all aspects of recruiting to clinical trials. This will include but is not limited to consenting participants, carrying out study specific procedures (including phlebotomy and performing ECGs) and providing administrative support. You will need a range of IT skills and be able to work without direct supervision as well as organise and manage your own workload.
