Job overview

The Research and Development department here at NNUH is looking for a motivated individual with a passion for research to join the team as Research Data Administrator.

The R&D team is busy! You’ll be joining a team of 18, who together manage up to 300 active studies at any one time. This role would suit someone who is able to work confidently on their own initiative and across multi-disciplinary teams.

The purpose of this post is to provide administrative and data support for all research activity within the Research Office at NNUH. The post holder will work with the Research Study Officers to ensure that Trust-specific feasibility issues are fully considered and that studies are set up and approved in a timely manner, with access to the appropriate level of resources.  They will be responsible for proactively investigating data quality queries ensuring that data related to research activity is recorded, monitored, maintained, and reported to ensure data quality and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability and a keen eye for detail, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times.

Main duties of the job

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • To provide administrative and data support for all research activity within Research Office based at NNUH
  • To assist with all aspects of project management of hosted and sponsored research projects
  • Responsible for accurately logging receipt and progress of research projects, related amendments, and Expressions of Interest.
  • Process data relating to individual research studies including data input, resolving data queries, verifying source data and accuracy
  • Provides regular reports on research activity, performance and quality as requested by the Research senior management team ensuring that final data and reports are presented in a visual and ‘user friendly’ format to maximize the impact of the message
  • You will pay a key role in engaging with a variety of research staff. The ideal candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and will be required to attend regular face to face meetings with a variety of research staff. They will assist and liaise with research staff, researchers, and users of the Research Operations Office, acting as a point of contact for enquiries and information as appropriate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates:

  • The post holder will be required to assist with all aspects of project management of hosted and sponsored research projects.
  • Resource, track and monitor the registration, approval, and status of research projects.
  • Undertake administrative tasks in relation to the registration, review and approval of research projects.
  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the approval of amendments to the study protocol is achieved in accordance with national and local guidance.
  • Processes data relating to individual research studies including data input, resolving data queries, verifying source data and accuracy. Reports and acts on any data anomalies in consultation with the Research Governance Co-ordinator and Research Services Manager.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures completeness of research data stored on file and electronically. Regularly monitors data systems to ensure data quality and consistency.
