We welcome applications from both Medical Secretaries and Support Medical Secretaries to join the Trust’s Temporary Staffing Team.
As a member of Temporary Staffing you will provide an effective medical secretarial service to the Consultant Surgeon and his/her clinical team. A strong sense of teamwork and commitment to maintaining high standards is essential to this position. As a successful candidate, your assignments will initially be as Support Medical Secretary until you have gained adequate experience.

Experience of audiotyping is essential to this role
AMSPAR/Knowledge of medical terminology and/or equivalent experience is desirable
Good general standard of literacy and numeracy
Good IT and keyboard skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Knowledge of the Trust’s Patient Administration System (PAS) is desirable, although training can be provided
Experience of working in a secretarial role within an office environment
Experience of working within a customer focused environment
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of the need for confidentiality
Good organisational skills, with the ability to be flexible and prioritise own workload
Flexible, team player
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
