The Day Procedure Unit at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is one of the major Day Surgery Unit’s in East Anglia treating an approximate 14,000 patients a year.  Following the Nationally recognised British Association of Day Surgery Directory the Unit is continually reviewing and expanding its services to more patients with greater complexity of procedures across all surgical specialties, which include Orthopaedics, General, ENT and Max Fax, Gynaecology, Urology, Pain,  Plastics and Paediatric surgery in its five theatre suites and procedure rooms.

We are currently recruiting for band 5 nurses/ODPs to join this busy dedicated day Unit.

Supporting the Trust PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence is important to us and we promote the ability to communicate in a personable, approachable and respectful manner to all, and support the development of instant and positive relationships with our day case patients. This approach facilitates the individual to work inclusively and collaboratively with the patient and multi-disciplinary team, to provide  excellent care.

As part of the theatre team, you will have the opportunity to work as a competent practitioner delivering skilled, high quality patient care, while supporting the philosophy of multi-skilling and integration of all disciplines of theatre personnel.

Ongoing education is promoted to develop individuals and achieve competency objectives through a programme of in-house development packs and the opportunity to access Accredited educational events/courses.

The many different surgical specialities that utilise the day surgery services provide the exclusive opportunity of gaining competency skills in both paediatric and adult care. This variety and flexibility allows for the maintenance of professional registration requirements through the challenges each specialist area and patient group provide.

We are looking for dynamic individuals to be an accountable practitioners working in accordance with the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council/Health Care Professional Council and in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines. . The highest level of professional integrity and honesty is expected of all staff in order to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently promote the Trust’s ‘PRIDE’ values.

The Day Procedure Unit’s current opening hours are 07:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday and 07:00 – 20:00 on a Saturday. Theatres currently operate from 07:30 – 18:30 Monday to Saturday. Successful applicants would work two weekends in a four week roster pattern.

Our service provision is constantly reviewed in order to meet the needs of the community, and could be subject to change.
