With the expansion and development of our Urgent Care Centre (UCC), we have 1 WTE vacancy to fulfil our rota requirement; we are looking for candidates who can work both week days and weekend shifts. Applications are invited for both qualified and experienced GPs, who are on the GMC specialist register as a GP, or doctors in training who will be on the specialist register within 6 months.

Are you looking for a change in direction, or simply the opportunity to gain valuable experience by practicing in an Urgent Care Centre? Why not talk to us about the opportunities we are offering to:

  • be part of the creation and development of our vision for a friendly, patient focused Urgent Care Centre team
  • concentrate on being a primary care doctor without administration and operational distractions
  • develop new clinical skills, teach, or develop into a clinical leadership role

It is currently an exciting time to join the Emergency Medicine Directorate as we are working through a full programme of urgent care development which includes the expansion of the services provided in our Urgent Care Centre. The GPs working within the Urgent Care Centre have access to the full range of diagnostic tests available to ED and will be required to support the delivery of appropriate care with the 4 hour quality standard.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (1,000 beds) and at the Cromer and District Hospital. Our clinical teams treat more than one million patients a year from Norfolk, neighbouring counties, and further afield. As a university teaching hospital we have a successful research partnership with the University of East Anglia, the Norwich Research Park and Norwich Radiology Academy

We are looking for skilled and experienced GPs to help lead and develop our team of GP’s, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants. The Urgent Care Centre is co-located with ED Minors, and operates as part of the Emergency Department offering patients presenting with conditions which could be managed in primary care an alternative to the traditional Emergency Department treatment pathways.

When fully staffed, the UCC will operate from 8am to 11pm Monday to Thursday, and from 8am to 11pm Friday to Sunday, the latter hours are applicable for this vacancy

In order to attract a committed and high quality team we are offering the following flexible benefits:

  • Annual salary of up to £85,298
  • Fellowship schemes
  • NHS Pension
  • Medical Indemnity covered by the NNUH
  • Up to 40 hours per week (days/hours flexible)
  • 30 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays + appropriate study leave

We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion.
